That question might could change to “how long do a camera last?” or “how many years until I should decided to buy a new camera?”.
Well, the world of photography -and present day it has already change to a digilat era- has already change. There was a time when photography is a profession or a hobby, but now it become like a lifestyle. The passion to have a digital camera are almost the same as how it feel to have a cellphone.

We might still could remember when we may use a camera for a very long time -if not forever-, now in the digital era, we may say that camera has a limited lifetime. The inside parts of the camera, such as chips in it, can not last forever. Or, the worst thing is that if the camera has already not-up-to-date anymore, regarding to the technologies in the new cameras. Of course, technologies always move a step forward every time we realize.

If we are a professional, in the other hand we use our camera to make a living, it might be a great idea to change our camera to a new product depend on the availability in the market. we could say, more up-to-date the better. The reason are to access new -and probably best- technologies in the new specification of the camera. It will reduce the risks to have problems on our works. And of course, an up-to-date camera will give us more value in front of our clients.

Now, if we only use our camera limited to hobby -plus- with a limited budget, changing our camera from time to time is not recommended. One thing for sure, investing on lenses are the best. The price relatively stable, and if we had to change our camera, better find the same brand as our previous one, so we could still use our lenses.

Think about buying a new camera is easy, of course depend our the budget we already have or prepare. But to choose our first camera will not be that easy. We need to decide the brand. Because when we already choose a brand, it will be better to stay on the brand. The decision will concern to many habits on using the camera, from it’s characters to the color it produced. And well… don’t forget about our investments on lenses.

So, I have no answer for the question.
It all depend on what will you do with your camera, how much budget do you have, and what brand and type of camera you choose for your fist one.

Happy hunting, guys!
